We recorded these guys a few months ago.The name Annabel Lee is based on a poem by Edgar Allan Poe...as are the songs they create. Beatiful, ethereal, dramatic and pensive sounds and songs by an extremely underrated and talented group.

All Hallows eve!!!....Title Sequences

Here are a couple of my favourite horror title sequences.
THe first is Halloween By John Carpenter.

What makes this work is the firstly the importance of Mr Carpenters music, possibly the creepiest soundtrack ever made...in my opinion. The other aspect is the slow zoom that the camera makes into the face of the pumpkin, telling the viewer he is going to come face to face with the horror in the film...this works in uping the tension of the piece as the music heightens...

Dawn of the Dead Re-make.
This is an amazing sequence...capturing the idea of social upheaval and the them and us idea so brilliantly illustrated in the original movie. The idea to use footage from riots in cities brilliantly captures the idea of society on the edge of breaking down.

Rosemary's baby...the Music is what makes this sequence work.
The music brilliantly gives over the feeling of building tension...you feel that although everything seems quite pleasant on the surface something in the music tells you there is an underlying terror...it feels uncomfortable...not quite right.

Just came across these two pics on my travels.

This first pic is an illustration by a guy called Sakke Soini He's a great illustrator working in Retro Futurism styles.Although i have some issues with the whole shiny space rainbow thing (mainly because there seems to be too much of it right now) he is doing some amazing work like this illustration below.

This one below is a front cover of the Rockateer Magazine. I love the the colour and balance of elements in this design. Pretty Perfect if you ask me.

While searching for inspiration for a project i'm working on i came across this video which i think is amazing and the music is bloody great too. jacky giordano is apparently the music maker...i have no idea who made the video...though i would love to find out. The best bits are the simple shape graphics that evolve over time throughout the vid...beautiful.

There is also this classic Trailer for ZARDOZ starring Sean Connery...i love the title visuals to this movie...bloody lovely!!!
A lot of the visual aspects in this film e.g the pyramids,eye motifs and prism type objects are objects i use in my own designs and this movie is one of my big influences. enjoy!!!

Now...I'm not a great fan of 'blogging' but i decided to succumb to the trend because i think i would like to talk and mention things about other stuff i'm into as well as letting people know about work that i'm doing.
So...this blog will be a place for me to talk about stuff that inspires me...new projects that i might be working on...and a place for me to talk about my other interests which are philosophy, pop culture, the media and general ideas about modern culture as well as any rants and ravings that i feel i need to talk about...sorry if that sounds boring to any of you but hey....
now i don't know how regular it will be but y'know...when the fancy takes me i suppose.
So...i welcome all to come and chat with me and leave comments etc.
